Larry Stoler remembers Bwana Johnny

I grew up in Southwestern Connecticut in the shadow of the New York

radio market. I have kept up with the business for 48 years and have worked

in it off and on for several years. During the days of 97/DJ, I would do anything

to get a good signal from the station especially at night.  I was probably one of the

few people in Connecticut who regularly listened to WWDJ.  I was a real fan of the

Beauty on Duty.  I get the same excitement from listening to airchecks of him today

as I did when I first heard him. The comments and recollections of Bwana that

you posted are well deserved and were written by some truly classy individuals in

and out of the radio business. I'm sure from all the stories I have heard and read that

even having the opportunity to hang out at 97/DJ must have been incredible.  It's to

bad it didn't last as long as it could have.

Thanks again and RIP Bwana Johnny.  We'll never forget you.
