Jamie Hyatt remembers Bwana Johnny

I was Bwana's APD/MD/Afternoons in the late 80s at KSND in Eugene.

One memory I barely remember is how Bwana got me completely drunk on tequila

before my air shift on my 21st birthday. By the time I got off the air that day, I was

throwing up out of his office window. It was probably the greatest hangover of my life.

Bwana (aka The Legend as he liked to be called back then) threw great staff parties and

was a very good cook! And who could forget the Bwana Johnny Comeback Tour at the

Gavin convention in '88, complete with bright yellow buttons.

I also believe that Bwana is responsible for the revival of the aloha shirt! And the pith helmet.

All joking aside...I will always remember him as a mentor and a friend. He was simply put

...a great guy. He will be truly missed.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to the guys who were able to be there for Bwana in his final days.

The photo I received of Bwana with his buddies warmed my heart.

Much aloha to each and everyone of you,

Jamie Hyatt
